Last month we aired the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) introduction related to PCB layout considerations. We received a great number of requests for the webinar slides and recording and the additional coverage of the topic.
We will present DFM (Pre-layout Considerations) this month as part 2 of this series. As the construction of any building, there must be a blueprint to implement; however, all too often in the electronics industry, in our rush to get to PCB layout and beyond, we dive into the schematic with little or no game plan. Though many DFM concepts are implemented in the PCB layout, the foundation for DFM lies in the pre-layout considerations.
The webinar will include discussions on:
The need for specifications and how to write a requirement
Schematic 'etiquette' as it relates to the readability and formatting of the schematics
The necessary elements of a footprint to generate good assembly and fabrication documents
